Can anyone recommend a podiatrist/physio in Cork who makes good orthotics? My (flat) feet are in bits!
    Thanks in advance :-)

Have you been assessed yet to find the cause for your flat feet? While orthotics can be useful in certain circumstances the are a device which tend to be over sold in this country simply because there is a HUGE margin in them as a product. Alot of the times the underlying issues are easily treated.

Orthotics can be a short term fix but in my experience can come with their own issues.

This is not meant as a way of dissuading you from seeking this form of treatment but rather to be made aware that often there are other solutions (and indeed often they are not required at all)

If you haven't been assessed my advice would be to get checked out first by someone with no vested interest in orthotics to see whether or not they are necessary

    Hope this helps

Thanks a million for your reply. My feet are very flat alright, pretty much no arch to them even when they are not bearing any weight.
I have had a podiatrist make orthotics for me in the past but they never felt right and after about 6 months I got rid of them as other problems were cropping up.

Can you recommend anyone who could assess me? Should I see a Physio instead of a podiatrist?

As you say, orthotics seem to be way over-prescribed and I'd obviously like to avoid shelling out on something that's totally unnecessary.

If anybody could recommend someone in the cork area I'd be very grateful. Thanks :-)

This has been a few threads on this before here and in the cork forum that might be of help...

I've been to the physio in Blackrock Hall down by Mahon a number of times and always found them very good.
