Hi all, just wondering if the boarding pass scanners at Dublin Airport be able to read my boarding pass if I use that instead of printing it out? I'm using a Moto g if that makes any difference.

I'd rather not print out the boarding pass unless I have to.

Really depends on the Airline, you can only use your phone if the Airline specifically states its possible.

    E.G. Aer Lingus

Although if you booked via KLM you cannot use mobile check in even though the flight is with Aer Lingus.

Ryanair for example are due to introduce it some time in 2014, but not yet:

So if you turn up with it on your phone you'll have to pay the fee to get a boarding pass.

I've used the phone passes for all my flights this year so far.

as much as I love technology, I actually prefer the paper pass as there are fewer problems with scanning it. Maybe it'll get better soon, and it's one less thing to do as I dont have a printer at home.

Make sure you actually save the boarding pass to your phone so that you're not relying on getting online at the airport.

You can only do this if you have used mobile check-in and have a mobile boarding pass.

You can't use normal web check-in and then decide to not print the boarding pass. Airport security won't accept it and will send you off to get a printed boarding pass. Unless you are travelling on Ryanair, then getting a printed boarding pass at the airport is free.

    This.

Take a screenshot of the pass so when you're boarding all you have to do is show the picture rather than hope you can bring up the webpage at at the gate.

Also turn on orientation lock. The first time I did this, the agent couldn't figure out how to scan it because it kept rotating with the phone.

I've used this with the Gatwick Express and they'd the most stupid system ever.

You had to place the phone flat, screen down on a gate scanner.

This caused the phone proximity sensor to blank the screen.
