Quick question as forgot to contact the vrt office about it and the appointment is in the morning.

I ended up with a different car than i thought id buy, would it be fine to show up with it, the booking was done with another VIN ?

Also, this is bit strange, I was checking the vrt fee again and the car in question is a 11 reg march, if i punch in that the car was reg in dec 11 instead of march 11 it gets nearly 100e cheaper, i would have thought it would be the other way around ?

So your cheaper price on December model than March must be due to high mileage.
December model is less than 3 years now, so higher mileage reduction applies than to March model which is already 3 years old.

In other words, certain mileage is considered by them as excessive to car which is 2 years and 5 months old, but the same mileage is not considered excessive (or less excessive) to 3 years and 1 month old car.

Are you saying that you booked it in before you collected it or even bought it or saw it?
I do not know where you stand there, guess it is up to the person you meet there.

Do not forget to download the forms that are now required -since January 2014-to be completed before you attend at the office, and then take your chances.
It is acceptable to bring a different car for an N CT test so perhaps you are in luck.

yup, normally buy them unseen but this time i just had to have another car they had.

The free vrt slots was not that plenty and wife dont like to drive with uk plates on it for some reason so i booked the free slot,, cant see why they would turn me down but then, this is Ireland,,

Perhaps whereby you have to fill the forms out now may allow you to replace one car with the other.
Just noticed that your car is less than four years old. You do need to check the spec, as per Irl, as you will be assessed for additional VRT on extras, if they exist.

Ye, hopefully they dont see AC and el. windows as extras anymore :)

Its not simply that. They take the model spec as listed for Ireland and anything over that spec is VRT rateable on a sliding scale.

Extras means anything above standard for specified trim level.
If in trip level you chose on VRT calculator, those were as standard, it won't be treated as extra.

Do not forget to report back to us on how you got on.

Doesn't matter what car you bring in, just let the person know so they can amend the reg or vin number that you entered.

Thanks guys, I got it sorted and new plates on.
I called the vrt office with the new vin number in advance of my appointment.
