Hello, I have to make small animations and graphics for a project. I am been using Photoshop Cs6 but I am now on holidays and have no access to a Mac. I did try Photoshop CC trial but that has expired.

So is GIMP just as good as Photoshop for graphics?

I have seen some amazing graphics on the Meet the GIMP podcast by Philippe. Not sure about animations though.

Used them both a lot and while they are similar in their basic abilities, they are also quite different.

For basic graphics work GIMP is pretty flippin fantastic. It's not however as professional as PS.

But it's excellent and I've done professional work with it.

And actually, it does a few things more easily than Photoshop. Crazy.

I'm pretty sure Adobe made Photoshop CS2 free to download last year, if you're not liking GIMP. I never use it myself as I have CS6, but most people I know that have tried it out are relatively happy with GIMP's abilities.

Yep they did. Very cool of them.

I prefer photoshop over GIMP, but only because i have limited experience with GIMP.

Photoshop Portable is free to download, but not sure on the legality of it.
