Anyone able to tell if these are a good make of bike ? Local lbs has fully carbon 11 sp ultegra (I think) for 2100. Don't know what wheel set comes with it. I don't want to show too much interest without some knowledge of what to look for or ask about. Or should I just steer clear ?

Lovely bikes. I know a few guys riding them, leisure to Ras Mumhan riders. They love their Bottecchias and have had no issues with the bikes.

Thanks very much for replying appreciate that. Yea not sure of exact spec of bike. I have 10 year old specialised bike that am thinking of using in winter only and getting new bike for rest of time. The bottecchia caught my eye and just wondered how they rate as a bike compared to other brands. Thank you again.

My OH has a flat bar Bottechia 804 Sora and loves it. Comfortable, reasonably light, looks good and has never let her down.

Lovely bikes. I know a girl that purchased the 2014 8avio with 11spd ultegra and she is very happy with it. I presume this is the model you were quoted. I am almost there on pulling the trigger on the purchace of a super8. Good luck with what ever u decide.

I was quoted 2800 Euro but this is for the higher spec carbon frame with full ultegra. The entry level carbon is called the 8avio and the higher spec is the super8 avio. The super8 has fulcrum 4 wheels and the 8 has fulcrum 7. Also depending on which exact model of 8avio it is may restrict you to an ultegra mix as opposed to full. Prob fsa crank.

Thanks very much for that. Would you know if the super eight would cost much more and would it be worth the extra euro. Greatly appreciate your help

You can get the spec of all the bikes here but you won't have prices. You will just have to price the Irish stockists or online from the UK.
Wouldn't think there is a huge difference between the 8 and super8 once you spec the 8 with full ultegra. As for the wheels I'm not too sure. Probably just a slight weight difference

You appear to be caught in will I/won't I dilemma:) It's tough to make a decision, I don't know the bikes well enough to be able to say if there is a difference between the 8avio and the super 8avio. The frame of the super is 120g lighter if that is important. From the Chain Driven site the super 8avio with Ultegra and Fulcrum 5 wheels comes out at €3072.80. The Bottecchia Emme 2 with Ultegra and Fulcrum 1 would be €4645.87.

If you're out for a new bike and are willing to spend over €2000 then look at bikes and buy the one that makes you feel "Wow":D There are lots to look at, if you're from Listry, Kerry then have a look in the new O'Sullivans Killarney or Kingdom Endurance Sports in Tralee or iBike in Listowel you're not going to end up buying a pig in a poke and one isn't going to be head and shoulders above another. The feel of the new bike will be way above your old Specialized so you will feel great anyway:D

Not so much a will I / won't I more like which one to go for it's confusing :) and do you really think either one would be a much better bike than the specialised ? Not from listry , mom was. You know listry or maybe you from their ?

I guess you need to look at what the bike will be used for, what level you're currently at, where you want to take it! I haven't met anyone yet who changed from an entry level bike to a carbon fibre and found themselves flying up the road, the engine is the same:) the feel of the bike and the joy of riding it can be immensely better, which leads to riding it more. It all gets pretty subjective... If I was in a position of changing my bike I would also look at a Bottecchia, but that's because I can go into Motion Cycles and take a look, I'd also check out Forme in Tralee...then I'd be in two or even three minds:confused: and that's not including the online looking, Canyon etc. At some point a decision would have to be made! But it would come down to a combination of price and looks, for me anyway:) Good luck with your shopping
