Is there any financial support for overseas training?

    I may have to attend two months' training in the UK, for a job based in Ireland. The company will pay for accommodation but that is it. I don't see any way I can support myself unless I can somehow continue to receive Job Seekers Allowance while there.

    Is there any provision for this? Surely it is within the concept of the system that I can receive benefits in order to take up a guaranteed job within the state?

    Jobseekers Benefit payments can be transferred abroad to EU countries for 78 days max (but you would have to be seeking work there and sign on there) but Jobseekers Allowance cannot be transferred at all.

    Odd that a company is paying for your accommodation in UK for a two month training course before employing you.

    So rather than draw the doel for a couple months training before taking a paid, permanent position in Ireland I have to just stay here and continuing drawing the dole for potential several more months. Great.
