Happened during one stage in the tour a couple of years ago too.

At least they'll keep the roads clear for things that won't put other road users or animals at risk. Like cars.

I tend to pick up nails and other pieces of road debris in my neighbourhood or when I'm out walking. I think it's better in the bin than in someone's car or bike tyre, not necessarily mine. I guess some people have a different view.

Did the organisers enter discussion with the residents at any point before the event was scheduled? 4000 speeding cyclists through a small rural community is not a

    "relaxed ride"

    "peaceful progress"

I don't condone the sabotage, but I wonder if there could have been better respect for the locals

Not too many years ago there was a race held on our road that we were not informed of.
Supporters were horribly marshaled parking cars everywhere blocking driveways and all.
It also effectively closed the road...but the ould lad wasn't for stopping that day.

This happened on the Sean Kelly tour last year too.

Wicklow 200 2 or 3 years ago had a similar issue. Outside a particular house up heading up the rocky valley there were thumb tacks all over the ground. Lots of people in the grass changing tubes when we got there.

The Cookstown Road cycle path is covered with glass on both sides. Could be just the usual gunk but I don't think so.
