Attending interviews while on JobBridge

(there really should be a Jobbridge sub-forum)

Does anyone have any experience of this they could share? I know the scheme states that 'host companies' must give participants time off to attend interviews but it does put the person in a difficult position. I am due to start a JB internship soon and there's a good chance I will have 2 or 3 interviews very soon after that. So pretty much the day I start I'm going to have to ask for days off, I don't think it looks good and reckon it might jeopardise my chances of being kept on in a permanent role.... but I have bills to pay and the JB scheme will be costing me money.

The interviews are more important. So I'd be concentrating on that - unless you're hoping for a permanent role. Your host cannot refuse you time off.

I know they can't refuse you, I mentioned that in my OP. I just want to know how other people have found it, did it sour the relationship with your 'employer'.

I know if I was the host company in the JB scheme I wouldn't really be happy with someone constantly leaving to attend interviews.

So what exactly are you looking for? Do you want a permanent job or would prefer to stay on Jobbridge and remain unemployed??

What the host employer wants doesn't come into it. Those the conditions they signed up to when asking for interns. If they don't want staff swanning off to interviews in order to obtain a permanent paying job, then they should have employed you as a member of staff and not an intern!

I think you're over thinking this TBH.

No, not in my case. Time off, Interviews, I even requested a half day every Monday to attend a course. They couldn't do enough for me.

You're working for them for free. If they aren't happy with you attending interviews I'd tell them were to stick the "job".
