What is she doing different now, then before! Massive improvement. She was running in the last couple of years like a decent club runner and now she has a much faster marathon than then our last 3 Olympic Marathoner runs who ran in London 2012! Would like to know what changes she made to make such a drastic improvement!

It seems she had an underlying talent, but had no proper structured training program.
From what I know, she's now specifically focused on her running, and with that a properly tailored training regime.

Sounds like an opportunity for the old natural talent vs training effort debate to start up again!

Seems from what I can see that she simply started training properly and actually dedicated herself fully to running in the past couple of years.
If I was her I'd be kicking myself that I didn't look more seriously at running a few years earlier as she'd have made London.
I guess if she keeps things 'between the ditches' she's looking good to get to Rio!
Great to see it happening now anyways!

I think its a formality that she'll be sent to the Europeans.
She was at the World Half in Copenhagen a few weeks ago, but pulled out within first km with a niggle.
Judging by her London time, that was a very clever decision considering it was her debut race in an Irish singlet and probably saved her a longer term injury.

Frank GreallyPhotos had a great interview with her before that half she got injured in. It's on Independent.ie I think. Just to correct the thread title it's not the 5th fastest time, she is the 5th fastest woman. Catherine has another couple of times quicker than even Carey Mays time.
