My vehicle was stolen a few weeks ago - a trusty old Nissan Vanette that has taken me everywhere for the last seven years. I'm gutted and to add insult to injury, the insurance company is only giving me €750 for it. Being a totally broke student at the moment means that this is the sum total I have to spend on a new vehicle. Can anyone tell me what would be a good make to look out for that might be for sale around this price?
    Thanks in advance :)

    Mid 90s Corolla I suppose.

Quick look shows a couple of almeras advertised for around a grand. Also a 1999 Mitsubishi spacestar 1.3. Low enough miles and looks clean for 500 quids. Can't really go wrong

Stay away from anything not jJapanese for that money IMO.

Something Japanese too...Mitsubishi Lancer or a Mazda 323, Honda Civic or Corolla too if you could sneak one in at that price. The Lancer or 323 likely better value as less sought after but no less reliable tbh.

If you could stretch an extra 50 quid or so I reckon you could have this :)

They really are a pretty good can and this has a new NCT to boot :)

Primera all the way. The P10 and P11s were bulletproof and alright to drive too.

That White one looks a very clean example.

Do yourself a favour and get a corolla or a Honda civic. Both are a good bit better built than the rest of Japanese cars in the same segment, and even the segment above tbh.

They were reliable enough but bullet proof I wouldn't call them.

Distributors, fuel pumps, throttle bodies are all common failures on them, as well as that they go through steering components on a regular basis and they rust. Wiper linkages are also a weak point on them.
