Toshiba screen went black

Hi, I was using my sisters laptop when suddenly the screen went black. The lights to say it was plugged in and the battery was in were still on, but the light around the power button was off. I turned it off, removed the battery and charger, but nothing. I'm really panicking because I've only had it a week (because mine gave up....) it's a Toshiba Satellite C50D-A-133.
Please any help at all would be much appreciated!

Try removing the RAM (one stick at a time) and swapping the slots.

So, try Stick A alone, then Stick B alone.
    Then, if no difference,

Try Stick A in Slot B and Vice Versa.
