Ok, so a few years ago my friend bought and brought home a petsafe wireless fence from the US. Only now am I getting a dog and I've encountered a problem, the product adapter has an input of 120V and an output of 12V. So if I plug it in it will probably blow I've looked around and cannot find a suitable adapter to no avail. So I'm asking for any advice to find a solution to my problem as its a fairly expensive piece of kit

You should be able to get an adaptor/transformer thing from Maplin,
Or you could find out the current required and get a replacement adaptor using 230V instead of the North American voltage
