Anaphylactic Shock - Getting Worse

    Hi all,

Not looking for any medical advice in specific, just a guidance as to what route to take.
My aunt (60), requires the use of an Ana Pen if she comes in contact with fish or anything related to fish. Even touching a surface that was in contact with fish will set her off.

Lately though, she has been getting worse and it seems that regardless of what type of food it is, she is having reactions. Eating has now become a deadly task, as every day she has reactions from nearly most foods. Most recently last night, was a single Gold Grain Biscuit, which required her to meet an ambulance on the road for four rounds of Ana Pen.

Her GP is aware, but at a loss of what he can do, and shes at a loss of where to turn to for a specialist. Shes based in Galway/Mayo and is looking for advice from someone who has been through/is going through similar, or advice on seeing a specialist in this area which may help!

    Thanks in advance

    F

How do you reckon that that's NOT asking for advice?

Fend, it sounds like your aunt is an extreme case, has she not been referred to anyone who deals with allergies? I don't know much about it myself, except that my own father had a bad allergic reaction to a particular drug and has to wear a medical bracelet. When he had the reaction he was brought in for allergy testing down in Cork, they did skin patches as well as other tests over a day and kept him in overnight for observation.

I know there are certain clinics in Dublin hospitals that deal with allergies, I think St James has a specialist there. Could she ask her GP for a referral to someone who could help her figure this out?
