I am going to be working in dublin tallaght and my other half is working in ballyfermot. Where would be best living re getting to work whilst not being too far from city.

We would like to live in a nice area and we have budgeted for about €1600 per month rent.

    Thanks for the help.

Chapelizod. Luas to Tallaght walking or bus to ballyfermot.

    Near city. Near Park.

Nope it's not. I live beside Liffey Valley and it costs €15 - €20 in a taxi to O'Connell street. The buses on the N4 get me into town in 20 -30 mins too.

Beside the N4 so the commute is easy - nearer to city - Palmerstown

Terenure would be ideal. Close to ballyfermont and Tallaght and in general a nicer area

Not if you're relying on public transport I'd imagine.

OP are you both driving to work, public transport. .mix of the two?

We have a car each but considering gettin rid of one as most places only allow for one parked car. So possibly a mix of the two.

    Is kilmainham or railto rough?

    Good and bad areas.

To be honest I would suggest that you decide who is driving and who is using public transport and then at least we can pinpoint areas on the transport system based on that.

Personally I would look for a place along the red luas line then rather than using Dublin Bus.
There are modern apts around Heuston and Kilmainham that are a short walk to the luas stop at Heuston Station.

Couple of options....Parkgate Place, Clancy Quay and Heuston Quarter.

There's busses to Tallaght and its a short drive to ballyfermont or only 15 minute cycle.

I grew up in Terenure and went to college in IT Tallaght and worked in ballyfermont quite often. Both are easily accessible

Rialto is free parking all over, i'm very comfortable there this last 2 yrs. Bit run down towards the barn but if you stick close to the canal/luas you'll be grand

Lucan is perfect if ye are working in Tallaght and Ballyfermot. Why do you need to be close to the city centre?

Harolds Cross/Terenure. Fairly convenient for town, on the bus route for Tallaght and a handy drive to Ballyer. What would bring you out to the sticks in Lucan with it's restricted nightlife, restaurants etc.
