    Hi
I am looking for a tractor and loader under €10k for a cleaning out stables moving silage and straw bales probably an hour a day of light work. 4wd would be handy for getting through soft area to tip manure but 2 wd might be more manoverable around building. any recommendations ? Make not as important as reliability but dont want a rust bucket either.

Case 1390 or 1490 are a grand tractor you'll pick up a good clean one for around 5-7 k

Agreed fully but fairly rare these days, esp 4wds. The older db 13/1490s tended to be 2wd also, more chance with a 13/1494.

If its silage bales your moving forget about 2wd! You'll have broken front axles left right and centre!

If you not going to use it for any draft work or for spreading fertilzer but mostly loader work then get an industrial tractor or like a massey 50ex. You can get them with a 3 point linkage and and pto too. Far superior to any tractor + loader for the same price.

Hmm for the yard yes, but it wont be much use out in a wet field, just too much weight.

there is someone advertising newish tractors in various counties too cheap and giving a dublin number must be a scam. Ebay is full of them as well, i was looking at a mf265 in stoke for £4600 and when i asked could i go and see it he emailed back it was in hamburg and he would send it over to me, i assume at some stage they would ask you to send cash by western union.

Thanks for all your replies. Does anyone have any experience on these http://www.donedeal.ie/tractors-for-sale/case-tractor-and-loader/6249057.
loader will mainly be filled by hand with manure and loaded into trailer so 2wd should be ok i could move the bales on the back.

I have a 885xl and they are a super tractor and very straight forward but if you go 2wd buy a bale spike for the link arms.

On the contrary the weight will give grip when trying get out a bale of silage. Have a 4wd digger and it will go anywhere, the 2wd tractor I have doesn't like wet ground, need weight on the back .

Id have to disagree on the will go anywhere, it may get there but it'll scutter the whole place doing so... 4wd tractor and you'd hardly tell were its been in a wet field compared to a hx...

She looks similar to the 885XL we have except ours is 4wd. There a nice tractor to drive. I've driven a few case tractors and couldn't fault them. Our 4wd is maneuverable enough so that 2wd would be even more so.
The loader looks on the light side. It should be fine with straw but forgot about silage. Really for carrying bales of silage on the front you want a 4wd.
