That is like asking how long is a piece of string. The official party line is that you will get it in one to two weeks. The actual reality is far worse. I have read several posts on here, where people were waiting a couple of months before they got it. You could try giving the, a ring, to see if you can get them to get a move on, but there are no guarantees that that will work.

My learner permit arrived after more than 3 month-after numerous phone calls to NDLS Customer centre and 2 complaints to RSA.
I hope you will get your permit on time.

    Hi all,

My daughter got her learning permit today and when we tried via the online booking to make appointment for the Cork ndls office there isnt any availability so is it ok to just call into the Cork office with hopefully the correct docs. Another thing, she is 17 and in 5th yr so doesnt have any of the listed requirements eg bills, insurance, bank statements CAO etc in her own name.

One last thing her passport is out of date since last wk, will that still be accepted by the ndls, the theory test centre refused to accept it and insisted on her getting an identification document filled in by the school ( obviously closed for easter hols) the principal very kindly met us at the school and filled it in and then had to rush back to city centre where they allowed her to sit test before they closed, lucky for her she passed it!!

Cork and Dublin offices keep appointment slots for walkin appointments same day, but you would need to be there at opening time. They accept passports up to 1 year out of date. And proof of address will be covered by the Theory Cert . She will also need an eyesight report dated within the last 30 days

Appointment must be made online for Cork city, Tullamore and all Dublin offices. Alternatively you can just turn up at opening time and they will provide you with a walk in appointment.

The service they provide is a joke! How can it take weeks, even months to process a learner permit/ full license ? It should take 5 business days max.
