Wisdom tooth link to sinus problems

Just a question. Over the last few years I seem to have started to suffer awful with my sinus. Seem to be sneezing really lightly some days and really suffer from it full on eyes, nose and fatigue.

Even on normal days I do be very tired and when I come home from work I would nap from about an hour then maybe late that day I would be tired again. So I would wake up at about 6am then around 12 midday I would be tired and have to put my head down awake again then around 6/7 be fairly tired and cranky then bed around 10/11pm.

I can say over the years I have giving up smoking about 3 years ago, and have put on what I would call a healty weight I am within the BMI for my age I am early 20's.

Anyway my problem is the sinus, but over the last few days I wonder would my wisdom tooth be causing the issue, it seems the tooth is half down and there is a bit of gum flopping around. When I brush my teeth it bleeds, so there's blood when I am rinsing my mouth out. Also I myself think my breath smells. I also snore when I sleep, something I never did when I smoked ! But it wakes me up the odd time when I am asleep. Also the right side of my jaw seems too have to be clicked, it's like this pressure builds up randomly during the day and I would pop/click it sometimes it can seem to be fairly loud to relive the 'pressure'.

I had a check up before and the dentist said the tooth should come down and the gum will not flap anymore that was a year ago. It also seems that I grind my teeth in my sleep it's not physically noticeable on the teeth.

Has anyone any ideas who I should go see or what I should do ? Cause it's starting to depress me and something just before the sinuses get extremely bad it would feel like I am about to lose my mind, like just thinking of really odd thoughts?

    Thanks !

Go to a dentist and get an X-ray. I was suffering with what I thought was a sinus infection for ages, after two trips to the doctor and a course of antibiotics didn't sort it I went to the dentist. At first he couldn't see anything wrong with my teeth but after an X-ray he found a thiny abscess on my second molar.

Sorry been bust the last while. Anyway I was down the dentist today.

Very nice girl, she said she didn't think it could cause sinus problems as it was at the back and teeth that are more near the front with deeper roots would cause issues and that the sinuses would more than likely cause the tooth to become painful.

She did suggest getting the tooth removed and I got a referral letter for an Oral Surgent I gave him a ring, basically I was asking about price. It's going to cost 120 for a consultation/examination and plan. 60 for an x-ray of all my teeth and then 300 for the removal of the tooth.

Would this be the going rate, ?

Like the tooth is basically stick out of my gum and causing me some pain but nothing serious just yet. But it is my strong belief that this is cause my sinus problems?

    Anyone any ideas?

I had sinus trouble for years which turned out to be a problem with my TMJ - diagnosed by a Maxillofacial Surgeon (not sure if that is the same as an Oral Surgeon or not???) in conjunction with my dentist. Might be worth looking into??? I saw the surgeon through the public system though, so there was no charge, which was obviously great! Have subsequently had to have my wisdom teeth out too although I'm told they did not have a bearing on my jaw problems.

Very funny that you bring up TMJ, I looked into this before and my jaw actully clicks well it more so pops. Now nobody else can hear this but, it seems so loud to me.

Mine's exactly the same - can't believe other people can't hear it!

Although clicking/popping are not necessarily indicative of a problem. My sisters is sooo loud but she hasn't had any problems with hers.

Snoring that sometimes wakes you up, together with daytime tiredness, would make me wonder whether you might be suffering to some degree with sleep apnoea? Maybe worth discussing with your GP.

OP anyone i know that had pain connected to their wisdom teeth lower or upper seem to experience this,There may not be a scientific link to this in some cases,But it appears to be common get that tooth pulled,I had the same issues and it did the trick. People are starting to recommend that we leave our wisdom teeth be when they are not causing trouble but after the pain i experienced id get them pulled the second i felt them come up if i could turn back time.

Well I am not in pain exactly, like today they are fine. I may be going mad but I really think it's link to the wisdom teeth. I cannot give any other reason if anything I should be feeling better since giving up the smokes.

The only thing holding me back is the 120 fee and 60 for an x-ray. Is there any way around this? What if I have to get all four out that nearly 900 euro. I don't have 900 euro ! 20% back in nearly 190 euro, cover the consultation fee. What's the point in PRSI, what the hell dose it cover !

Just to clarify my sinus issues stopped after my jaw surgery was done, so I don't think that my wisdom teeth were causing my sinus problems. I think maybe when my jaw was sorted it gave room for my wisdom teeth to move or something??? But didn't have any sinus issues in the time between having my jaw surgery and wisdoms coming out (about 18 months) or since.

Could you look into seeing someone through the public system? There'll probably be a wait but you say you're not in that much pain - maybe the wait would be ok?

Btw - I gave up smoking in an effort to remedy my sinus problem and it actually made them worse!!

Well went today, explained the situation. The dentist said something like he couldn't say if the tooth was linked to the problems but it would defiantly need to come out.

I don't mind, as I have stated to people I would not go around with a finger bleeding every now and again, let along a tooth bleeding in one of the most germ ridden parts of the body. I'll be glad to have it out even if I still have the problems at leased I can go the doctor and go from there.

Just hope the removal is swift and no issues ! I am more dreading after having the tooth out.

Dry socket is rare but getting wisdom teeth removed can be painful afterwards,I got my top two out,The first one was agony as the dentist left a piece of tooth in the socket luckily it worked its way out after a week, but my god it felt like i was being constantly stabbed in the jaw bone,Now the 2nd tooth i had removed was beautifully smoothed i had maybe two hours of tenderness after the drugs wore off but otherwise it was brilliant just say it to the dentist before hand he/she will look out for shards anyway but it wouldnt hurt to mention it.

I'm sure you'll be grand. I had one of my back teeth pulled a couple of weeks ago and I was suprised by how not-awful it was ;-)

Wisdom tooth or just a normal tooth.

Just in case anyone wanted to know, there called wisdom teeth because we acquire them in our teen years meant to be our wisdom years. There actually our 3rd molars, back when we were all living in caves and when our teeth looked like crap and we would be missing teeth, these teeth would replace our lost ones. So since we rarely lose teeth in this day and age, these teeth have no where to go and cause problems as they form in places not designed to hold teeth.

I had all 4 wisdoms taken out in Sept under GA and I ended up having to have one of the back teeth pulled in the chair there a couple of weeks ago. It had decay from where the wisdom tooth was impacted and stuff was getting trapped. I had no trouble with or after either procedure. Hopefully you won't either :-)

not so sure I'd refer to my teens as my wisdom years :-)
