Have a non run situation, but the OBD socket won't allow read of ECU and codes. The Engine icon is not lit and testing the OBD socket, battery live at terminal 16. Eart at terminal 4 but no live at terminal 5, which normally allows ECU read

The Blink code method, brake and accelerator held down and engine icons blinks does not work as no Icon not lit at all.

All fuses are good, no signal to injectors or spark plugs.

terminal at ECU for feed to OBD?

    Any info greatly appreciated, Thanks

Check the main relay under the bonnet. I've had this cause dead car and no comms before. I'll look up the relays location later and post it if you haven't found it by then.

Just checked autodata. There's an underbonnet box with 8 relays therein. It says relay no 4 is the engine control relay for most models.

On the 1.4 16V, the relay energises pins 47, 48 & 64 of the ECU.

There's also a separate underbonnet fusebox with some fuses which also protect the engine management circuits, but if you've checked these then they are obviously not an issue.

I'm not overly familiar with the ignition switches on those astras and it may be behind the relay not being fired. Check fuse f46 (15A) has a supply with the ignition switch on. If there's no power here then it could be IGN switch related

The engine us the X16E, 8 valve 1600....

The ignition switch has the immobi;ser control with the transducer built into the key.

Given your info. it would point totowards the two naib items, F46 fuse and the relay. This is underlined by the loss of ECU live in the OBD socket.

Tocheck the immobliser and key, did a swop from a donor vehicle in good working order.

So, in the morning I'll work thro your information, many thanks, for the info and the speed ..

    greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

Wiring diagram for the 1.6 8V engine shows same relay, fuse and ECU wiring as the 1.4 16v.
