Buying a BMW, which model?

    Hi

    Just looking for some advise on buying a BMW and which models are better than others.

    Looking at 3 Series, year 2011.

    I do alot of motorway driving and not sure which one best suits. 25000 per Annum

    316,318 or 320?

    Is there anything i should know about these models or are they all pretty reliable? and which one would you recommend?

    They are all pretty much the same basic 2.0 litre diesel engine in different states of tune and with different type injectors and turbos. 316d is 115bhp, 318d is 143bhp and 320d is 184bhp.

    One major thing to worry about all versions of this N47 engine is that earlier examples suffer from timing chain stretching and snapping. This is a costly fix (circa €2k from an indy garage). There are conflicting stories that this issue was supposed to be resolved by 2011 but I am now starting to read about newer cars suffering the same issue. Lots of information on the web about this problem.
