Window Tints - Different sort of a question

    Lads,

I know window tinting has been done to death in here, but I have a slightly different question.

Looking to get the rear windows done and had settled on shades.ie as they are convienent and seem to come well recomended.

Was going to book in when I happened to walk past a car earlier on with rear tints and noticed a little shades.ie advert in the rear window. It was just a small white label with shade.ie on it. The kind that is becoming popular with dealers.

Can anyone who has used them before please tell me if this ad is placed by them on all cars they do? This would put me off using them as I don't like dealer stickers / motor company ads placed on my car.

    Thanks!

Best thing to do is to ring and ask, they will give you best answer. And if they say its normal oractise, ask them can they do it without them.

    yep you're right! Thanks.

Am in work at the moment and can't use the phone, so thought I'd ask the internet in the meantime to see if anyone had any personal experience.

When I get a chance to ring them I'll post up what they say

Had a car done years ago by Shades, and they put their logo on there. Didn't look too bad, and it was a special offer at a motor show, so I wasn't too miffed.

Sure if you ask them nicely, they'll leave it off.

Tell them you won't want a sticker put on the car.

Solar Gard in Cork do this too. Theirs are on the outside, so I had mine off immediately. It's obnoxious, but when Irish people are happy to let stealers advertise for free on their cars with nary a care, you can understand why they'd do it.

I just wish Solar Gard would lift their game on the actual tinting, the last two cars they did for me were average at best. Very much a get-em-out-the-door operation these days, unlike when Austin(?) used to do it himself. Is anyone decent doing it in Cork these days?

They do, you can ask them not to, or you can just VERY easily remove it. Mine just peeled off with the help of a credit card and some soapy water. The advert is on the outside of the window, the tint is on the inside so you wont do any damage to the tint

I just peeled mine off. Quick buff with a cloth and some glass cleaner and you'd never know.

100% recommend Shades.ie. Did a great job on mine.

Thanks for all the replies lads.

I thought that they might have sandwiched the ad sticker inbetween the tint and the window. But if it's just on the outside of the glass and not interfering with the tint itself then that's grand as I've no problem taking it off myself.

Black_Knight, I love the look of your car. Very sublte. Going for a much darker tint on mine (Mazda 5) unfortunatley as it's more a necessity to stop my kid being blinded rather than trying to make the car look better....if that's even possible!!

I've used proparts in dublin and found them excellent. I think they put a sticker on the windscreen which easily peeled off but they definitely didn't put one on the windows they tinted.

I had such a shades sticker, never really bothered me but I scratched if off one day with my nail anyway when washing the car.

Personally, I'd go with cartint.ie who are in Blachardstown aswell. The film they use is really high quality, and they're a good deal cheaper than shades.

Dont see where cartint are cheaper....

    To quote both sites:
    cartint.ie - Full tint from €180
Shades.ie - window tinting. Only €160 per car including 2 front doors

I can only comment on the quality of shades.ie, but 7 months down the line the tint is perfect (no blistering etc). Ill be back to them next year pre and post NCT to get the front window tints off and back on again.
