Trying not to nag my son but it's hard not too

Hi my son is doing his jc this year. He is a good student and does well but is capable of doing so much better. I find it so hard to get him motivated and I get really irritated watching him on his laptop playing games or on Facebook. I really don't want to nag him but I can't stop myself . He asked me to call him at 8 this morning for him to start at 9. I did that and left the house to work. Just phoned home while I am on a teabreak and he is still in bed. Any tips

If he is concentrating and listening properly in class, doing his homework to the best standard he can and asking teachers if there is something he doesn't understand, he is doing enough to do well in the JC.

If he can continue that attitude into Leaving Cert., he will not be one of the ones frantically learning stuff they think they've never done before, with months to go to the exam.

All the LC courses build on the HL JC courses, indeed some of the OL LC courses are not a lot more information than JC HL.

People generally do better than they expect at JC (the exam is designed that way), but some students then think they won't have to really work for the LC, which is a mistake as the LC as an exam is designed and marked in a very different way. That's the thing to look out for. Complacency.

Thank you that all makes perfect sense. When you see they are capable of doing well you just want them to achieve to the best of their abilities. Had a nag free evening and it was much better.
