    Hi all,

Was over with a mate the weekend and had a look at his CV boot as his car has to go back for a visual check for the NCT because the CV boot is unsecure.

Took a look at the CV clip and the latchy bit has simply snapped off leaving just a ring.

What's the easiest way to secure a new CV boot clip without the use of one of those CV clip tools that looks like a crimper ?

A heavy duty cable tie works well for me.

Yeah, we thought of going down that road, but the perfectionist/anally retentive in him tells him it will bug the crap out of him for a while having 3 clips and 1 cable tie.

Ya should be able to get the clips on their own from your local factors. We stock them.

Cheers Dave, but the issue is tightening them correctly with the correct pincher tool, these type of things

    or these

End cutters work as well, just tap the u shaped tag flat afterwards.
    or use a cable tie...:P

I did one before using a normal jubilee clip that just tightens with a screwdriver

Yeah, that was the route I was going to go down, there's ones with small enough screws to tighten. But then I read people talking about vibrations due to the clips being too big which I would never have considered. The car is 4 years old, had it been an older yoke I wouldn't be thinking this too much.

Excellent ! One of us will grab one then. In the meantime he booked into his dealer to see what they'll do as it's still under warranty.
