    Hi

In the market for a new car and considering going for the above. Have always bought 2nd hand but thinking about buying new this time. List price is 31.9k. Offered 7k for 07 a3 sports back with 120k kms so 25k net.
I am looking for advice as to what kind of discount one should get on list price. Also if anyone has any comments on a3 saloon I would be interested. I don't do much mileage circa 10k miles pa. I also like the merc cla. Cheers.

If you are trading in a car then the discount on the list price of the new car doesn't apply. It's about getting the best trade-in price for your old car. So you need to focus on is the cost to trade-up price, visit more than one dealer to compare prices.

Cheers. My question was a bit muddled. What I want to know is what discount I should get off the list price if I bought it straight? There is a waiting list apparently circa 2/3 months. Should one still get a discount and how much? Trade in value implies no discount as I think i could get 7-8k if I sold it privately. Thanks

There is no set in stone figure, if the car is in short supply and there is strong demand then the discount more than likely will be low. You might have a better chance if the dealer already has the car in stock as opposed to a factory order.

When I traded in my 12 golf for a new one recently I got E18800 for it on seeing the sales invoice afterwards the car value was only E17000 with a discount of E1800 added. In my experience you get a better deal outside of Dublin oh I think the Audi is the nicer looking car...

Seen the A3 Saloon in the flesh for the first time the other day. A nice looking car, nice and compact.

Although there was a brand new Octy parked right beside it and to be honest, it looked every bit as good.
