Why wouldn't you buy this?

    Why wouldn't I buy one?

God help you if it ever breaks down, the repair bills for Jags are pretty scary. Jaguar claim the 4.2 will do 22mpg....maybe going downhill on a windy day yeah.

I'd need to see 100% proof that mileage is genuine too. I'm highly skeptical. The service history should be sufficient.

Make sure the engine and gearbox are perfect on it. A gearbox rebuild can cost thousands i'm told.

Fair play to you for even considering it though, they are a truly breathtaking car, and that one has probably been parked up for months because people too busy buying their small little diesel pisspots so they can pay 190 a year on tax.

I hope you go through with it, i'm sure there's lads on here who've owned Jags that can help you out with the decision.

Yeah I'd be sceptical about the mileage too. Not sure I'd have the balls to buy it without a significant euro safety blanket for maintenance (which I don't have) :(

    I think it's gorgeous. A stunning car.

If you can afford to pay €1,809 a year in tax, go for it - if that's what you want. It'll continue to depreciate like a bitch, but just enjoy the ride. :)

But do get it checked out first by a third party. There may be a reason someone is selling it...

at that price, the depreciation if held for 2-3 years will be about 1.5k per year, assuming the op gets 500-1k off the asking. The tax unless you pay it in a lump is €2040, thats the killer, well that and if something major goes wrong...

Yeah, the depreciation isn't really too much of an issue with a car of that price, the tax is annoying to say the least but if something serious went wrong I'd be on shanks mare with a Jag in the driveway,

Might have to finish the mortgage first to have a bit of financial breathing space for potential maintenance, ah well only 8yrs to go
