Bought my first flash - help! (565EX + 600D

    So I bought a Yongnuo YN-565 EX - and I'm only getting around to using it now. I will order a set of wireless triggers at some stage but for now I'm trying to get it work off camera - as I have a 600d and it has a wireless transmitter built in.

    If I go into Flash Control settings, and into external flash settings (Flash has to be mounted on top to enable this menu) Its all fine apart from the last option "Wireless Func." which I cannot seem to set to enable. Its set to disable, I change it, press ok, remains on disable. Am I missing something does anyone know?

    What about using the in built flash, how do I get the Yongnugo to act as slave. Can anyone help?

    I am basing this off of working with my 7D but your camera should be fairly similar.AFAIK the external setting are for when you have a command flash on top of the camera not when triggering with built in flash.

    Go to Flash control – Built in Flash function – Wireless function
    This should give you some options

    Ratio control between built-in flash and off-camera (ETTL)
    Off camera Speedlite only
    Speedlite + off camera flash.

    Edit: Also dont forget to put the 565 into slave mode
