So all going well I'll be moving into a new apartment in the next few months which means I'll get to get some new shiny toys!

The main piece will be the TV in the living room. I'm not looking for a huge TV - a 42" or perhaps 47" max will be fine. Looking for something with all bells and whistles etc... Something that's going to be future proof for at least a few years (the UHD F9000 Samsung looks nice!). Realistically I'll have a budget of about €2,000 for the TV. What would you guys recommend?

I should say that I'm hoping to get a home automation system (HVAC) as well. I'm not knowledgeable on home automation systems but from what I've heard Control4 and Crestron are the market leaders so I reckon I'll be going with either of those systems. I know Creston and Samsung work together. I'm not 100% set on having the TV integrated into the system but if it's doable then I'd like it.

For multiroom audio I think I'm going to go with Sonos. I currently have two zones so I can just expand/change around as needed. If I was to buy 2 playbars, a sub and play5 what's the best price you could do on them?

Also how would you compare the Play5 to say a Connect or Connect:Amp with a set of speakers?

Hi Shane.

Thanks for getting on touch with us.

I'll start on the TV for you:
For the 2000 Euro you will get a very nice television!

Starting at the Samsung UE40H7000 (NEW RANGE) priced at £1099.95 / 1374.99 Euro
http://www.richersounds.com/product/tv---all/samsung/ue40h7000/sams-ue40h7000

Samsung UE46H7000 (NEW RANGE) priced at £1299.95 / 1624.99 Euro
http://www.richersounds.com/product/tv---all/samsung/ue46h7000/sams-ue46h7000

The NEW Panasonic TX47AS802B priced at £1449.95 / 1812.99 Euro (PRE ORDER)
http://www.richersounds.com/product/tv---all/panasonic/viera-tx47as802b/pana-tx47as802b

At the top of your budget you could go for the FANTASTIC Samsung UE48H8000 (CURVED) (NEW RANGE) priced at £1599.95 / 1999.99 Euro
http://www.richersounds.com/product/tv---all/samsung/ue48h8000/sams-ue48h8000

On the 42" front Panasonic should have a few more screens in this size out over the coming weeks.
There are other Sony 42" screens but coming in well under budget and nowhere near compared to the NEW samsungs!

Sonos is a cracking system and the ease of use makes it the most popular multi room system that we sell!
Sonos holds its price really well when it comes to pricing:

Sonos Playbar priced at £599.00 each / 748.99 Euro
http://www.richersounds.com/product/soundbars/sonos/playbar/sono-play-bar

Sonos Sub priced at £599.00 / 748.99 Euro
http://www.richersounds.com/product/multi-room-components/sonos/sub/sono-sub-gloss-black

Sonos Play 5 priced at £349.00 / 436.99 Euro
http://www.richersounds.com/product/multi-room-components/sonos/play:5/sono-s5

We do offer our price beat policy if you can find the Sonos cheaper (If you do please let me know) we tend to be very competitive on this!
http://www.richersounds.com/information/pricebeat

It is hard to compare the Play 5 to the other two products as they offer very different functions.
The Play 5 is a stand alone speaker where as the Connect would connect to your excisting Hifi using your own amp and speakers, so depending on your equipment depend on the sound quality.
The Connect map can power a set of speaker so again depending on the speakers you pair it with depends how good it will sound.
If paired with the correct items both the connect and the connect amp have the potential to out perform the Play 5.

At last of all on the HVAC system. I have to say I'm not 100% on these setups or if we could supply anything like them. I will do some checking on this and revert back ASAP.

Let me know what you think regarding the screen and Sonos.

Any further questions please let me know.

So I'm finally moving this along a bit....

Looking at the TV primarily and unfortunately my budget has been reduced as a result of having to go higher on the property.

I'm looking for a max 42" TV - looking for as much as I can get for a budget of €1,100... What would you guys be recommending?

Cheers,

Shane

Do the Samsungs you've selected there have gesture control?

Would you recommend Samsung above the other models?

Hi Shane, cheers for the reply.

The Samsung 6900 does not have gesture control, the H7000 range does.

If it was me, I would not have that particular feature sway my decision as it's performance I would go for over gadgetry.

The Samsung models are very good although I wouldn't necessarily recommend them over the likes of a Panasonic or a Sony. They do offer different things and while Samsung tend to load up on features, their picture tends to be very details, sharp, bright and impressive at the outset. The Panasonic would offer a slightly lesser level of detail but would make up on better motion and a slightly more natural look.

They are both superb but it's a question of which type of picture do you like ?

I hope that helps.

I'm not going to be basing my decision on features like gesture control. I think I'm leaning towards the 40H7000 though I do like the look of the TV.

Is there much point in buying 4K? Am I going to be kicking myself in 18 months time that I haven't gone with 4K?

Also the 40H7000 is available on Amazon for £893.

Hi Shane,

Thanks for getting back to us :)

It's a tough one on 4K.  At the moment there isn't a lot out there in 4K.  But from what there is it really does look superb.  We got a USB stick from Samsung full of 4K content and it's very impressive.  You'll also be future proofing yourself.

But if you're not interested in 4K then the H7000 is the way to go.

Ok last question

Any difference between the UE48H8000STXXU and the UE48H8000.

Powercity are doing the UE48H8000STXXU for €1,387. Richersounds are doing the UE48H8000 for £1,399. Pretty big price difference so I'm just wondering if I'm missing something here?

The UE48H8000 would be a pretty decent beast to have.

Shane,

really apologies for the delay getting back to you - that 48H8000 is €1415 in PC currently, which to be fair to them is a cracking price. ( the 48H8000 both we and PC sell are the same units - but beware of some 'off island' retailers who may sell different versions of this TV!)

Our current price is £1299 / €1649 but that includes a 5 year warranty which is pretty essential on a specialist piece of kit like this - I'm happy to do it at €1399 with the standard 1 Year warranty or €1499 including our 5 year warranty,

We have them in stock ready to ship so if you would like to grab on just drop us a mail to sales@richersounds.ie or of course a PM with your contact details and I'll get one of the guys to give you a shout to arrange delivery,

Apologies again for the late response and please don't hesitate to drop us a line if we can assist in any way,

Its included in the standard pricing - but to be fair if we are matching a price then the 2 products that we are selling have to be comparable ie if we offer a 5 year and the competition don't - then its not like for like .. :)

On the product differences - I'm not exactly sure which suffix we have in stock but I'd bet 100% that its the same as both PC and ourselves only use direct Sammy supplied products and not grey imports - which may have different specs ( ie no Freesat HD or DVB-T2).

Keep us posted,

Ok so I went into powercity to buy the H8000. Got talking about the 4k option and ended up leaving more confused than I'd gone in! Anyway after a lot of thinking I've decided not to go for 4k. I've also decided not to go for a curved screen.

I'm going for the UE46H7000.

Could you give me a price on the H7000? Powercity are doing it for €1,153. Can you beat this price?

If you've been given a quote feel free to pass it on and we can have a look at it for you.  It will need to be a like for like deal though so they'll have to include a 5 year guarantee.  Bear in mind ours is an at home guarantee ;)

Hi Kenny,

Thanks for getting back to me. If you click the buy button on the page you've linked you'll see that the price comes down to €1,179.

DID are offering a 200% of the difference between the DID price (€1,304.99) and the Powercity Price (€1,179) which means I'll get the TV for €1,054.

The price on the PC site at the moment is €1249.95 - after you click to buy ( which is an excellent price to be fair) however its not a stock item and available to order

DID are priced at €1304.99.

Both of these offer a 1 year warranty on the 46H7000

I'll happily offer it at €1199.99 including a 1 year warranty or €1299.99 including our 5 year warranty - and we have it available from stock in our main warehouse ready to ship.

Thanks again and keep us posted if we can assist in any way,

Best regards,
