    Hello,

I'm hoping to buy one of these models betwen 2004-2006.

I've read elsewhere that they are basically the same car? Is this true?

Internal space is particularly important to me so I don't want to buy a 2005 Galaxy only to find that the 2005 Sharan was a little bit bigger.

Also the Reliability Index lists the Galaxy 00-06 at 230 but the Sharan at 192 - seems strange if they're the same vehicle with different badge?

    Cheers

Yes they are all the same vehicle with slightly different cosmetic bits. The Galaxy got a fairly extensive make over back in 2000 which kind of drifted it apart from the Sharan and Alhambra. The Galaxy also used Ford's own petrol engines but retained the VAG TDi engines. That could explain the slightly higher reliability figure.

I think reliability indexes also take cost of repair into account.

Probably, they are not an exact science. I wouldn't get too hung up on the difference. The Galaxy from 2000 onwards had a lot of Ford parts in it despite using the VAG platform. These are generally cheaper than VAG parts.
