Have to look into organising a sun mini-break(4 or 5 days),probably at Halloween for 7 or 8 lads all mid to late 30's. Just looking for a good value destination with sun, decent beaches, decent food, good bars/clubs but not full of loud noisy young ones!!But not boring, full of auld ones either!!
Was thinking Spain or Portugal, but will look further afield if theres good value at that time of year.Gotta try keep the costs(flights/hotels/transfers etc) as low as possible. Any recommendations?

How about sunny beach, Bulgaria? I went in April before the " young" crowd arrived and had a great time. Weather was beautiful, and the pubs etc were busy enough but not full of drunken people like you would expect in those kind of resorts.

Yeh, that seems an option, thanks. Are there direct flights? Was it good value?

Edit- Just checked online, doesn't seem to be direct flights there late October.

Spain/Portugal wont be that hot or guaranteed sunshine for that time of year... you'd want to be thinking further South, like the Canaries, I'd recommend Gran Canaria. If everyone gave 20euro a week starting from May, you could book flights and a nice 3-4star hotel, early September, sum 20odd weeks from now.

It's probably gonna be Halloween so I know we won't get somewere hot. Maybe somewere warm with a bit of craic. Either that or a European city break. Just looking for a few options.

    Toby,
I recommend this part of Tenerife between Los Cristianos & Playa de Las Americas. It is a lovely area with plenty to do around there. There is a great beach, watersports, and plenty of bars & restaurants around here. The disco bars are not on your doorstep but are only 10 minutes walk if you ever feel the urge.

Have a look at these apartments. These are the ones that I usually stay in. They are right on the beach. Most are privately owned, so you will see that they all look a bit different.

It is only 15 minutes in a taxi from the airport, so just get a cheap flight out there and jump in a taxi. Everything then is in walking distance.

I've been about 10 times and would totally recommend the area.

If you need any more info, just shout.

    JT.

    Thanks JT.
Would the weather be nice late October? Also would there still be a bit of life about the place, don't want it to be dead!

Anywhere in The Canary Islands will be hot at that time of year. I went to Gran Canaria in October a couple of years ago and it was 25-30° every day.
Maspalomas in Gran Canaria, Playa Blanca in Lanzarote or Corralejo in Fuerteventura are all well suited to your criteria.
You won't go wrong with any of those for sun and bars without it being too hectic.

According to skyscanner theres no direct flights to Gran Canaria or Fuerteventura for our (rough) dates. Flights to Lanzarote are €277, is that a bit pricey for that time of year? Looking at 24th Oct to 28th Oct but those dates could be pushed back

Mid Term break around Halloween will push your flights up so I'd be trying to go before that if possible.

Weather should be mid to high 20's. This shows the last week of October 2013. You can go look back of previous years too and it is fairly consistent.

    http://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/GCTS/2013/10/25/WeeklyHistory.html

I've been there at all times of the year and there is plenty going on. They say that the only quiet month in May... not sure why!

What else are ye in to. There is golf, crazy golf, a waterpark, a half-day trip to Mount Teide volcano (well worth doing in my opinion. I've done it twice and it is great). There are bars along on the beachfront here with beer for €1 to €1.50, but no lager louts. There is a wide variety of restaurants too for all budgets.

I've recommended this place / area to a few people and they too have loved it... One set of friends have also gone back there for about the 6 or 7 years!

There'll prob be a mixture of lads, some into golf, some into sightseeing, some into waterparks, some into chilling by pool&relaxing, some into drinking their lights out for a few days! So any place that can tick all those boxes will keep everyone happy! I'll check out flights to Tenerife. Accomodation wise,we're just looking for somewere with a pool and central enough to bars/restaurants etc thats good value without being a kip!

€277 sounds about right. Try Ryanair website with your dates, they will give you the prices for the days in and around your specific dates.
I just tried Gran Canaria and it's showing the 28th-4th at €237.

Well to be honest, I think the place that I recommended has all that.

It is far from being a kip. As I said, if you look at the apartments, you will see that they can be all different, so it would be up to you whether you want one that had been revamped or were happy with an older one. I've done both and had no problems with either. You will see from the reviews on tripadvisor that most give it a good or excellent review. Some recent reviews are saying it is getting a bit dated but I found them to be fine... and I would be fussy enough about where i stay!

There are other websites you can check such as holidayrentals.co.uk & homeaway.co.uk

I have also booked Parque Santiago 3 thru this agency. The owner Val Hobart is a lovely lady.

Insist on PS3... in my opinion it is the best of the 5 PS complexes. She may have other suggestions for you that you can consider, as long as they are in this area.

Just a different point of view here Toby... before you get all bogged down on which apartment complex on which island etc. etc. A few things to remember ...

You may hit it lucky weatherwise end of Oct/start of Nov in some Sun restorts .. but why are you limiting your holiday options to Beaches and Sun resorts in the first place. They will all be completely dead that time of the year .. it will be the "Off Season" when they bring in the builders to do refurbishments etc. kangoo hammer first thing in the morning ... sound appealing to you ??

If you want a Sun Holiday go to the resorts when everbody else is there ie. May->Sept or in reality for high season which is Jun-Jul-Aug

If you are travelling for Halloween, you will have much better fun on a city break. Check out Barcelona, Krakow, Amsterdam, Berlin.

Can't agree with that. I've been to different parts of The Canary Islands the last 3 Winters and there is nothing of the sort going on.
They are hit as bad with recession over there as we are. There is literally no building going on.

The main resort towns are busy all year round too.

Yeh, I did mention that in an earlier post. City break may actually be a better option. I'll put it to a vote and see. Berlin is supposed to be a good spot.
