No Claims Years

Hi lads i'm hoping somebody can clarify exactly how Proof of NCB works as my missus is currently in the process of renewing her policy.

Her 1st year was with AXA and her 2nd year which is currently coming to and end is with ARB (Top Quote) - so she has 2 years NCB

ARB has sent her a Renewal Notice together with a Statement of No Claims Discount, which states:

"Claim Free Years : 1"

Should this not be 2? i(e AXA + ARB)

Or is it correct that its just 1yr as thats what she had with ARB.


Basically what im trying to understand is, if an insurance company takes over your previous insurers NCB, is it their responsibility to give you a statement of ALL of your previous NCB's which you provided them with when taking out a policy??? Or just their NCB which means you have to chase up all your old insurers again to request their NCB's??

My latest one says 3 years NCB and that's from a different company each year. It also says 1 years claims free with that particular company.

Great, thanks, thats what I thought too..

So it is the current insurers responsibility to give out a statement of NCB for ALL previous years (which would have been submitted to them when initially taking out the policy with them) including theirs

Ye if you submitted a cert for 1 years NCB the latest should say 2.
