    E46 doesn't have that. Neither does a Volvo V50.

    Motoring myth.

Very few cars have that it seems. Was driving a Ford earlier in the week and it didn't, and my Merc doesn't either.

No it's not. It says "most" cars, and mine does have it.

I wouldn't say most. In fact I'd say most don't have it.

You just did say "most", twice. :D

    So that's 1.

Ive owned 8 Ford's in the past and all have had this,

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,042 ✭✭✭Bpmull

My focus had it. Golf doesn't. It's handy when you first get the car but once you get use to which side the fuel filler is on the arrow is of no use really.

I didn't think it was the arrow but any car that I've driven over the years had the handle of the pump on the same side as the petrol cap.

That's the myth. You see a few cars and think it's fact.

    I've never seen it

Both my cars have it. Filler cap is on different sides on each, so it can be a handy reminder.

Many cars have a holder for the petrol cap on the flap.

Some Golf MKV's came with a chrome bottle opener in the drinks holder (GTI and GT I think)

Been done and debunked here before, I'm too lazy to find the thread now but there you go.

On the "I didn't know that" front, Ford don't recommend changing front wheel-bearings on a transit. They reckon you need a complete new hub if the bearing fails. Hence lads changing bearings and finding they last less than 3 months. Apparently.

90% of cars i've driven have it 74% of the time

They still do. It may possibly be on a certain trim level. When I was working in a garage last year a new golf van came in for the parts guy with the bottle opener.

Manufactures should put on the NS for right hand drive. Nothing worse.
I'd have thought the off side so you don't have to go around the far side of the car to fill up, no?

A thing you open bottles with :)

it's not attached to the dash superuser, just a normal bottle opener sitting in a slot in the cup holder.

I'm on the phone but of you Google vw golf bottle opener it's in the first few pics.

But then you bang the door off the pump. Nearside is handier.
It seems cars originally designed for driving on the right(most european makes) have the cap on the offside, and the likes of jap yokes have them on the nearside.

Its a pretty near little touch actually. It slots in and out easily and a lot if people will never realise what it actually is.

Ah right got you now I thought it was related to the earlier mentioned car fuelling :)

makes little difference, most pump hoses are long enough to reach the far side of the car anyway, provided you park pretty.
