Can you recommend an affordable (Mac compatible) soundcard? I'm on 1210s so I don't want any bells and whistles. Just a straight forward unit with RCA connections.

    Rane SL2/3/4

    Native Instruments Audio 6/8/10

These two brands are the most popular DJ specific cards but can be used for any thing really.

Plus with them you get a full copy of whatever DJ program comes with it.

Rane - Serato SL and Serato DJ
    Native Instruments - Traktor

There are tons of other cards more for producing - Focusrite, M-Audio etc

Cheers. I just sold my Audio 8 actually. Got rid of my entire Traktor set-up. Just looking for something basic for recording vinyl mixes. There's a few Audio 2's on Adverts.ie. That's perfectly really. I never knew that model was available. Thanks again.

    Ha ok.

I'm not so sure if the Audio 2 has Line inputs though.

    The Two Jacks are Outputs.

Ah, of course. It's for Traktor. Stupid me.

I have a little Novation soundcard that I thought would do me for recording mixes. But the fcukin thing won't work with the latest OSX. Such a headache.

There's a few M-Audio models on Adverts as well. That'll do me.

Is the Mac's internal sound card not good enough for recording mixes?

Never used it myself but heard there is a decent built in soundcard...

    Yeah people use that too.

Just connect your mixers record out to the mic/line input of the mac, then use Audacity to record!

There's no line-in on the newer MBP.

That single input is dual purpose. Go into the sound settings and you can change it from output to input.

Not on mine. I done a bit of research into it. I've a mid-2012 13" MBP and the dual functionality was removed for that model. Lucky me :p

So you gotta fork a couple of dineros for a sound card then!

Ah yeah, has to be done.

I was reading through a few threads earlier and some people updated their Macs expecting to still have that functionality. There also seemed to be an erroneous spec sheet coming from Apple that said there was a line-in. That would piss ya off big time.

    Anyway, thanks for your help.

Swap your new MBP for my 2008 one which has audio in?

    :P

Thanks for the info. Looks like I'll be putting a new battery in my 11D model, rather than updating it then.
