It's a steel frame with steel fork and so will be very heavy. It's got a very low spec group set and is very expensive considering it's the equivalent of a farm gate in terms of finesse and quality.

For £50 less you'll get a Triban 3 from Decathlon in Belfast which is an alloy bike with a better spec group set. (there are loads of reviews and threads on them if you search)

For that sort of money, I would go second hand.

Thanks! I don't have a clue about bikes but I had a feeling a steel frame wasn't the best ha. I would get a Triban 3 but they only have 51" frames on the website. I'd need a 54".

Look at the 'Carrera TDF' in Halfords.

I was thinking about getting the TDF and over time updating the spec.

Are you thinking of putting panniers on it?

How big of a hurry are ye in? Decathlon have a new range of bikes coming soon. Keep an eye on their website. Should be some good value there.

I'd suggest getting in touch with Decathlon by phone or online, they sell absolutely tonnes of the Tribans so they might get your size in soon enough. Might need to bagsy it early.

Gonna give them a call tomorrow and see if they will be getting any bigger sizes in.

@djtwigster How soon are they bringing out this new range of bikes do you know? I'm not in a huge rush just looking to get one for when the weather starts getting better into summer.

Supposed to be April/May PP. I was going for the red Triban 3 this time last year and on some other board member's advice went for the black Triban 5a for £429. Serious value for money if ur budget can stretch to that. Seem to have a few of those in stock at the mo. I was advised by a staff member to get the 57 model as i am 5'9'' with a 32'' inside leg which fits me perfect imo.

Settled on the Carrera TDF guys. She's a nice ride. Got one basically new on Adverts with helmet, lock, pumps and jacket for 290. Thanks for the words of wisdom though.
