My wife and I and 4 kids together with friends who also have 4 kids (Age range: 1 - 7) are planning our first holiday away from Ireland. We are looking at Wales, specifically Haven Park in Tenby in Wales. Irish Ferries are promoting it and looks like we can get there for a week for c€1500 per family.

It seems to have all the facilities we would need so are considering it.

Has anyone been there? Any comments? Reviews are mixed and I'd like to hear from a boardsie that has experienced the place before we commit.

    Cheers.

    Hi

We have stayed in kiln park three out of the last four years, my kids now fourteen and ten love the place. We use it mostly as a base n travel around during the day and have visited almost all the nearby attractions, Oakwood, Manor house zoo, Heatherton, Caldey Island etc.

Bar the swimming pools n tennis court n playground when they were younger we don't make much use of the facilities on site. I prefer the outdoor pool as you can have a proper swim there but the kids love the indoor one, the indoor pool has been renovated in the last two years n is v clean.

We don't eat in the bar/restaurant v often as it is quite expensive n the queues are v long in the evening but we would always come up for a couple of drinks n to use the wifi. The kids would spend all night in the casino area if they were left wasting money on the slot machines so we only allowed them to bring up a little each night. We have never gone to the shows at night so I can't comment on them or even used the kids clubs as we like to spend the time together. Last year we brought our bikes with us n used them around the site n the cycle path along the beach.

The beach is lovely, it is a nice walk down to it but still v accessible. The site is v safe n well maintained n overall the staff are nice and helpful. The toilets in the bar/restaurant weren't the best and there was a strong smell of urine coming from the mens last year but hopefully that has now been sorted.

Overall we were always happy with the place, the town of Tenby is nice, some nice shops n restaurants but a lot of trashy gift shops as well. There is a Sainsburys in Tenby n that's where most people on site use as the shops on site can be expensive. There is a Burger King and Papa Johns pizza place on site as well.

I hope this is of some help n if you decide to go you enjoy it.

    Thanks Poppy,
    That's excellent feedback.
Our kids are small so I reckon we will use the pool and playground quite a bit. If the weather is good we will spend a lot of time on the beach and will generally self cater.
Did you stay in the mobile homes onsite? If you did, what was the quality like? Were the mobiles clean and well maintained?
We aim to rent 2 mobiles side by side so the adults can have a glass of wine and a chat when the kids are in bed.
    Thanks for your comments,
    G

    Hi G

Yes we always stayed in the mobile homes on site and I have to say ours were always clean. We had stayed at a site in mid Wales once where I had to buy cleaning supplies straight away to clean the mobile home cos it was manly buy in Kiln park they have always been clean. Don't forget to bring tea towels, dishcloth etc with you, we have gotten into the habit of bringing half full bottles of washing up liquid etc some toilet rolls, sugar, tea, coffee etc with us as it all adds up if you have to buy these when you get there.

You can request the area of the park you want to be situated, the area beside the playground has a huge green area where kids play soccer and the tennis courts are nearby. It is a popular part of the park though with some privately owned mobile homes so it might be difficult to get mobiles side by side. One year we were in one of the high areas and I would advise against there as it is at the back of the entertainment complex and if you have small kids it can get a bit noisy.

If you have any other questions let me know.

    Poppy

    Hey there,

I worked on this park for four Summers. It is a brilliant place, great activities for the family in a lovely setting. I'd definitely recommend it and it's one of my favourite Haven parks (I worked on about dozen of them).

Hi all, just wondering what sites did you book this through? Was it through stenaline/Irish ferries or did you book seperately?
