I did it last year, the 7 step version. Road surface for some of the bike routes is terrible, but otherwise I really enjoyed this. A very friendly 'local' crew, great atmosphere. The race briefing was like something from Fr Ted. The only problem I had was that the kayak section was poorly marked and marshaled, about a dozen of us went too far upriver as we did not see where to turn. The second run section is very tough, I found, you would want to be used to steep hills.

I signed up for it on recommendation from a friend who did it last year. Signed up for the seven steps, which might be beyond my capabilities but said I'd chance it. Organisers said its a fairly tough course but said if I was struggling, the 5 steps race follows the same route and I could finish it at that. Can't fault the organisers, have asked them a few questions and they've been very quick with the replies
