Is it paint or preservative? Are they made of softwood? Once the surface is sound you should be fine. If its hardwood furniture I'd lean towards using an oil instead

It also depends on what the furniture has been treated with already. For example a waterbased paint won't do well on a previously oiled finish.

It's a bucket of Cupranol for Shed's & fences. The furniture did habucket for ve a coat of something on it when bought. They are about 5 years old now. We sanded them down and after about 5 coats it seems to be sticking. Prob better buying a bucket for garden furniture won't need as much work prob only need about 2 coat's.

I'd say this is my problem.
