Driver's Door won't unlock

    hi was wondering if anyone came across this problem before?

    I have an 03 Corolla and the driver's door won't unlock from the outside or inside. This has been happening for a few days at a time here and there over the last year or so, works fine for months on end and then will do nothing again for a few days/weeks.

    Aswell as it not being safe to travel in, in the event of an accident; I have the NCT coming up aswell so I need to get this sorted. Was advised by one garage that the lock needs replacing wheras another garage reckoned it has nothing to do with the lock if it won't open from the inside either.

    Any ideas what it might be and will it be costly to fix do you reckon?
