Hey peps, so I'm flying to Edinburgh from Dublin in 3 weeks and I presumed that I could use my drivers license or PPS card as ID to fly to the UK as you can with Aer Lingus.
But a friend of mine informed me that you need a passport for Ryanair to fly between Ireland and the UK, please say it aint so.

Ryanair as you probably know are incredibly stringent! Also you should carry proof of nationality when travelling between UK and Ireland anyway, regardless of airline, even though you don't need a passport, for immigration.

Has anybody here actually traveled between Ireland and the UK with Ryanair without a Passport, its seems they except every other countries ID cards in Europe except Ireland's , WTF !!!

The ID cards referred to are state issued and Ireland don't do them, so it has to be a passport unfortunately.

Has to be a passport on Ryanair Im afraid.

You could get one via express in 10 days or visit the passport office in Dublin.

Does your SafePass have a photo on it?
If it does, then it should be OK, as long as you are a citizen of Ireland or the UK.
    The Aer Lingus site says:
The following forms of photo identification are acceptable:

    Valid Passport
    Driver's licence with photo
    International student card
National ID card / Government issued photo ID cards
Health Insurance cards with photo / Social security cards with photo
    Bus pass with photo
    Work ID with photo

I think the SafePass would come under Work ID, or maybe Government issued Photo ID.
