Ever die in a dream?

I dreamt my throat was cut a few night's ago. I thought of my family before accepting my fate and blackness pervaded my mind. I must have somehow survived though as I was awake later on in the dream. It was a very exciting experience I must say. Usually I wake up before sh*t gets real.

Have you ever died in a dream?

No. If you do, you're dead, awake. Or so "they" say.

I distinctly remember having one of those just-dropping-off-to-sleep argh I'm falling dreams and hitting the ground. Same as you, accepted my fate and then blackness. I did wake up almost immediately after and asked my partner if I'd done the old spasm thing and I hadn't.

    Yup....a few times.

One time I was sure I was dead. Someone was stabbing me and I was screaming and screaming and then I just accepted I was dead and shouted out in my sleep "I'm dead".

The next day I asked my youngest son if he had heard me. He said he had. So I asked why didn't he come and see if I was alright. He responded "sure you said you were dead so I knew you couldn't be"

Yeah, repeatedly. Thankfully not in the last couple years though. Died of acid explosions, being tortured for info with swords (), burnt at the stake, as a peasant being killed by some army while running away. Oh, and in a medieval army battle.

    I know, I'm a weirdo

Yes, I had a dream before that I was being buried alive in a shallow grave

I was looking out of the grave up at the night sky watching a number of misterious shadowed characters around me shovel the soil in on top of me. I could hear the thud of every shovel of soil as it piled up on top of me slowly constricting my breathing and sufficating me. A shovel of soil hit my face and I could partial see bits of light though it, then another hit the same place and everything went pitch black.

All the sound around me was suddenly muffled and I could hear another few thuds as more soil was piled on top of me. I was panicking because I could no longer breath or move due to the weight of all the soil on top of me. I knew that there was no way escaping this horrible fate and rather then dying in a state of anguish (which is what the shadow people seemed to want) I decided that I wouldn't let them have the last laugh and that rather then fight it I would fully embrace it and look forward to passing over.

It was at that point that I felt an overwhelming sense of happiness, harmony and warmth filled my body, I've never experienced a feeling like this in real live so it's hard to explain how amazing it was. I then floated up into the air and I was looking down on the grave and the shadow people standing around it, I kept on floating higher into the air until everything went white. It was at this point that I woke up...

I don't usually dream of the cause, just the dying, and it's an ecstatic rush. Hope the real thing is like that, and that it happens when I'm awake or in dream-phase as I'd hate to miss it. :)

Yes. I was cornered by a zombie in an attic. He killed me.

But I came back as a zombie so all ended well.

Ah, that reminds me that I once dreamt I was in a medieval town that was under attack from a rampaging. I was helping to man the gates and keep them shut when they burst through the gate with massive sharpened tree trunk that they were using as a battering ram. That went straight through my torso and I died in that dream too.

I had this dream a while back, I was upstairs on the second floor of this house I used to live in, midnight, and I was looking out of the side window and noticed two camouflaged men at the back gate about 30FT away and they both threw two grenades into my bedroom window, and when I saw the grenade land near my leg , I picked it up and threw it out the window back at them, but another one came in and I looked around and there was a military guy with a machine-gun pointing at me and the grenade blew up and I blew up, end of dream.

It actually felt like I did blow-up, but upon awakening, I realised I was a lucky bastard and life goes on. Some crazy Lucid dreams that can happen.

I can't wait till science invents technology that can record your dreams in HD. That would be something.

I always float and fly like superman in my dreams, don't know why? It always feels natural for some reason and very vivid. I fly up and around the clouds then all around the town. Then back home and into my body, usually just before the alarm goes off for work.

I have those flying dreams. I'm always flying over a forest when it is autumn and the colours of the trees are so vibrant.

The last time I had the flying dream was about 4 weeks ago and I was flying but I had this large annoying plastic wing-sheet on me, it was red in color. wreaked the whole flying experience. I managed to get to about 200FT and I started to lose wind to keep me up and then I fell to earth in a field.

If you ever have a flying dream, don't think to much on it as you will come out of the lucid dream-state and end of the great dream.

Have this dream once a year that I'm some sorta Spec Ops soldier and chasing terrorists through an airport packed full of people, always lose them in the crowd until one makes a break for it to the entrance to the hangars. As I round the corner I see him board a cargo plane so I follow him and just when I get to the door he pops up and shoots me, I always black out and wake up at this part so I'm assuming he shoots me in the head :o don't know why I have this dream but I always wake up feeling weird.

You need to start writing that stuff down bluewolf. You could make an interesting novel out of it. Actually I remember seeing an interview with James Cameron where he said he had a nightmare about a robot coming out of a fire which gave him the idea for the Terminator. Start eating some cheese before you go to bed. :D

I have written it down, which is probably the main reason I remember it all now :)

I've had this recurring vivid nightmare since I was a child. I'm dressed in one of those really old fashioned white nightdresses and drowning at Sarsfield bridge in Limerick. I can even see myself under the water. It creeps me out so much that I've always refused to walk over that bridge and close my eyes until I'm across it when on the bus.

I once had a dream where I was being devoured by a tyrannosaurus rex, I know technically you cant feel pain in a dream but I felt sharp pains shooting up my body as it gnawed on me and then darkness :P

I don't want to freak you out, but there is apparently a ghost of a girl who is supposed to haunt that bridge. Saw something about it over in the paranormal forum

I dreamt I was attacked by a zombie Elvis recently, not pleasant! Always had bad dreams about wars when I was a kid.

Remember having dreams about Nazi soldiers when I was little breaking down the doors and taking me away from my family. Probably from watching too many movies. I hope...

    I can't remember. A good question.

As a child I used to suffer from the classic nightmares after watching TV, after a cinema show or even just being told stuff, I was very gullible as well, a really stupid child who would believe anything.

But I was clever and I trained myself to understand that they were dreams and just to sit back and enjoy them as I would watching a movie.

Nightly I am on a B-17 flying missions over hostile Germany and blowing things up. Occasionally those pesky Messerschmidts would get us and I'd have to do a Steve McQueen out of Dodge.

Alternately I'm on board the USS Enterprise in all roles from fighter pilot to mechanic, ordinary seaman to captain.

I have an active dream life, lots of death all around ~ but, whilst I've been shot and wounded and in hospital and all that, I don't ever remember dying.

Pistol to the noggin, the drop to the knees and the sensation of the warm blood streaming down the face before it goes black.

It's the last thing you'll feel, like others have said I think you make your peace and accept your death in this moment before passing away.

I'm really really sorry! I shouldn't have said anything! :S

I could be mixing it up with the 'White Lady' whose supposed to haunt UL/Plassey House!

Some of ye should filter what programmes you watch!! Or what video games you play!

I remember being petrified as a child, by a dream of a bull charging at me (I was about 5, and was told to stand in a gap and wave my hands and shout, in order to redirect the approaching herd of cattle - I had the dream that night). I'm not sure I've quite recovered from that situation.

I have a lot of dreams where my feet won't move. I've also had a fair few where I'm falling, but I wake up mid-fall.

I've recently had a lot of dreams where I've left the back door open and am wondering whether someone is inside - I wake up in the middle of these dreams.
