Lamb standing around drinking water......... sign of.......

    No, not thirst, and not one of mine.

    Read a discussion lately, could have been here or elsewhere. It was mentioned that young lambs drinking water was a sign of something but I am screwed if I can remember what. It MAY have been cocci or nemo but I am not sure.

    Ha, I was going to say cocci! I am in the same boat as you, that sounds familiar. In fairness it could be either, as what they are passing will dry them out and they would be thirsty afterwards...

    Not sure what it's a sign of but know its not good and they won't last too long.
    Easiest cure is to bring in the ewe and lambs and don't let the lamb drink ie just give the ewe a supervised drink in the pen
    Otherwise the lamb ,if left drinking will wean himself and start eating grass.Recepie for scour and an early death.Had a couple at that here this year and the above along with a shot of Baytril or Marafloxin done the trick.
