I'm looking to keep the ESB Meter box off the house but having to supply detail on this. I had thought this would be an accepted solution but I've been asked to supply information to show we're not setting precedence for this. Does anyone know if there is any formal information available on this ? We're also been asked to supply drawings.

No help I'm afraid but I plan to do something similar in the near future.

I presume ESB networks is asking for this information? Where in the country are you?

FYI ... here is an earlier thread on this issue here.

I put it on my garage - I sent in a drawing of the site with an X marks the spot where I wanted to put them meter and asked them to confirm that there was no issue.

They said providing it complied with their standard drawings that was fine

going forward mine is read via wifi - so the reader does not even come into the property

I've seen someone on here put their meter into a small block work pillar so it has definitely been done before.
In addition there are thousands of mobile phone sites around the country with meters mounted in cabinets within the compound fence line with power going onwards to an equipment cabin or cabinet.
