Four women have had new vaginas grown in the laboratory and implanted by doctors in the US.
A tissue sample and a biodegradable scaffold were used to grow vaginas in the right size and shape for each woman as well as being a tissue match.
They all reported normal levels of "desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm, satisfaction" and painless intercourse.
Experts said the study, published in the Lancet, was the latest example of the power of regenerative medicine.

To make a serious post on this topic, aside from this kind of thing opening up a whole new life for women who suffer from this defect, what it does also create is the possibility for trans men and women to have their missing genitalia grown for them.
Not to mention people who lose them due to illness or accident or whatever.

They day is coming when they will literally be able to grow a pair and provide a fully functioning set of testes to a man who lost them, or never had them to begin with it.
Possibly even the chance to grow yourself a larger penis and have it surgically attached, and fully functioning, feeling and everything. Personally I've become very attached to mine, but I'm sure those with micro-penii would like this option.

For trans males, this presents the opportunity to become fully biologically male. You can father children and everything. You can only produce girls, mind.

Wombs and ovaries are far more complicated, but are also a possibility in time.

All of which raises a lot of questions. Reproductive and medical ethics is about to become a whole lot more complicated.
