Guys could someone please help me

Ive just heard today with only 3 months to go that the bridal store in [SNIP] is gone bankrupt apparantly but when my better half contacted the owner she said it was just closed due to deciding on a career break but that existing customers would be sorted out

    Please help me out here

    Has anyone heard anything ?

From googling the name online it looks bad with one bride complaining in febuary that it was gone and deposits lost ! We have €1000 with her so far as you can imagine herself is pretty upset at the moment

    [SNIP]

So sorry to hear of this. The stress must be awful. Have you been able to check if the business is in fact bankrupt? Are there official channels you can check, as at this point I wouldn't be taking the owner's word for it...

Assuming the shop has in fact gone under, the next call to make would be to the designer of the dress. Call them direct and ask if the order for the dress was ever placed. Some of them are pretty good and might well do a rush order for you.

Did your fiancee pay for the dress via credit card/Visa debit card? If she did, then a chargeback can be requested. If cash was paid then I'm afraid that'll be gone as your fiancee will be an unsecured creditor and therefore unlikely to get her money back...

Lastly - Have you got wedding insurance? It would be possible to claim the cost of the dress if you can provide proof the shop has gone bust.

    Hope you get it sorted!

    Hi thanks for your reply

The dress is american and the very last one of the 2012-2013 style that she had wanted so there is supposedly very little chance of getting it now especially at this late stage

Il find out how it was paid for and see but at this point its more the dress she wants not the cash lol that probably sounds stupid though

Lastly we do have wedding insurance luckily enough

Call the dress designer and ask if the dress was ever ordered. If it was - cool runnings! Simply explain the situation, pay for the dress direct and line up a decent seamstress. If not and you know the style number of the dress, then grab a copy of the Golden/Yellow Pages and start ringing every stockist. I assume you're close to the border, so try NI & Scotland as well. They might have a sample of the dress for your fiancee to try. Or else call the designer direct and see if they can source a dress.

    Deposit was paid by cheque

That's fine. YOU don't need to know!! :D

But tell her to call the designer first to see if the order was placed. That's the first step...

Hi focusowner, I've just edited your post there to remove the name of the store, seeing as it is not confirmed that they have gone out of business. Unfortunately, until there's proof that a company has stopped trading, we can't allow speculation on the forum.
