Hi ideally looking for a new car but would consider a good second hand, I travel 100kms (50 each way 50% motorway) 5 days a week , fuel efficiency is key. I am tempted by the new Fiesta 1.0l Eco as they are giving €1500 swappage on top of standard trade-ins , would this be suitable for this type of driving?
    Any ideas welcome.
    Ta

Take it for a test drive and see. 99bhp seems more then adequate and the Fiesta is probably the outstanding car in it's class. I've driven my friends 1.25 petrol(it's 2011) and its alright for motorways, nice and comfortable for a small car too.

I'd probably look at something like a Kia C'eed or Hyundai i30 instead though for motorways. Maybe an Octavia 1.6.

A Prius might be worth a look too.

What about something like a Skoda Superb? This one looks like good value. Has a good bit of tax too.

took a look at the fiesta, the 1.5 diesel puts out 75bhp!!! or the 1L ecoboost is 100bhp.

I imagine the petrol heads will tear it apart but how about something like this

Very economical, great spec and full manufacturers warranty until 2016.

I have one and it is extremely economical, and has massive space front, rear and boot.

Cheapest one I can see on Donedeal, hard to beat for comfort and the room in the back looks unreal.
    Hard to beat really.

The diesel is still nippy enough and will be much more economical.

The Superb would be a decent buy if it had a decent spec in anyway shape or form. I mean, there isn't even a leather wrapped steering wheel.

I'd guess that's why it's the cheapest around.

It may be the cheapest 10 around but for a bit less you can get a top spec 09 with a much better engine with less miles:

Hi folks was just re evaluating the journey it's 50/50 motorway/secondary roads so might head back towards the Fiesta, would any of the HYundais or Kia's be woth considering?

Surely a Nissan Leaf would beat them all for efficiency.

And it would fit in with your commute.

Yes, the Seed and i30 are fine cars. Same car underneath the bonnet so it's depending on your preference for styling and Kia has a 7 year warranty against Hyundai's 5.

Fiesta is at number 1 in new car sales in england this year not bad for a car that is around a few years now

Don't think I am ready for electric just yet between Fiesta Eco 1.0 Kia Seed and Hyundai will be trading in an 07 Swift with 185k, full service history, it will be interesting what trade in I am offered and will Ford honour the €1500 swappage

Well you're cars worth more than €1500 anyway... Jesus!

Look at the kia rio, its in the same class as the fiesta.

What about an Toyota Auris Hybrid? Would be a similar size car to your own, better mpg than a prius, you'd definitely get a 2012 one for the money....

I think Ford Swappage deal is €1500 on top of your trade in ie if your car is worth €4500-5000 then you get €6000-6500 trade in.

Well I'm close to buying the Fiesta Diesel 1.5 new, been offered €5500 for my own including the €1500 Swappage, so will be parting with €15,000, the petrol ecoboost is about €1,750 cheaper, am I getting a good deal?

Is the fiesta a decent spec. I think I read somewhere that the entry level 2014 fiesta doesn't have central locking. Nothing worse than have a new car that doesn't have even basic features.

No this is well speced, air con, Bluetooth, central locking, alloys etc. still not sure if I need the Diesel or would I get away with the one litre ecoboost there's about
€2k in the difference, official figures put the Diesel at 3.7l/100kms and the Ecoboost at 4.3. I travel 500 Km's per week so the difference would be 3 litres of fuel about 5€ per week, €250 per year or would motorway driving affect these figures?
