    Seen a crossbow for sale on Donedeal couple of days ago,just wondering on story with licence for them or do you even need a licence for one ?

    You need a restricted firearms licence for them in Ireland.
    (And you can't hunt with them; this may not be the right forum :) )

    You need a licence for anything with a trigger afaik

    No, just everything that's a firearm. For example, compound bows have a kind of trigger and they need no licence:

    Yes they do strangles, but this is Ireland. Different laws.

    Fast answer, different countries have different laws.

    Perhaps better answers can be found if you read the threads we've had here over the years on bow hunting.
