I bought a Mitsubishi L200 last year. The types that was on it are P255/65/R17. I'm going to replace them, I was told by an owner of a similar model that I should be putting the P245/65/R17 on it as this person was told that these are the correct tyres for the jeep, & the wider tyre can cause allot more wear.
Does anyone know anything about this?

Goodyear is what's on at the moment, local tyre place has Hancook, would they do?
What's the difference in going with 245 over 255?

The difference will be fuel economy between the tyres.

If you find your self off the tarmac once in a while consider AT tyres they suit the image of the jeep better and often last much longer.

Google camskill for cooper AT tyres especially if your buying 4

Father had coopers and thought they were quite poor

So what did he think was better ?

I been using cooper ATs on a passager Jeep last 4 years and they grip well in all weather. Much better than the summer road tyres that it came with.

The side walls are thinner on the cooper than some other ATs so could be more easily pick up side wall damage from sharp rocks but on the road it cushions the ride. You can pump them a little harder if you like the harsh feel.

Heard from a few different sources that BF Goodrich give increadible mileage, as well as decent performance.

I know we've a set on a D-Max, that are 50/50 road/off road tyres. Reasonable price for the size and the driver is happy with how they handle on the D-Max.
