Ok, I have your attention now! never mind the title, what happened to me this evening could happen with any battery!! just I never had a reason before to have an exposed battery in my pocket.....
So heres what happened, had an 18650 battery on charge, noticed as I passed it was fully charged, now I normally just switch it off and swap when needed.... But today I removed it from charger and put it in my pocket so as to leave it in my car, anyway I totally forgot about it and it was left in my pocket for a couple off hours(btw the timing makes no addition to this at all).. What happened next was scary sh!t, I felt this heat in my pocket and then this slight burning on my thigh, within seconds I knew what was happening, so after a slight hesitation milliseconds(for fear off explosion) I grabbed the battery and placed it on the hob off my oven...... Anyway alls ok down below, but the main thing is my battery still works perfectly :D and lesson learned!!
Sooo if you have- coins, car keys or any other metal objects in your pocket, do not put an unpackaged battery in your pocket..

Youv'e heard the saying :'Don't put anything smaller than your elbow in your ear'.. Well my new saying would be: 'The Smallest Battery you should put in your pocket is a Car Battery'......

I actually noticed my 18650 getting very hot as well after it had been in my pocket a while

Almost set fire to my pocket with a pair of rechargeable AA batteries in it combined with a set of keys......know better now...

And remember the safe cross code..."Look to the left......"

Eh, that's my point, I was gonna throw it in-to the car, but forgot about it, we all know about metal and batteries, possibly making a short.... But it's buried way way back off the brain..... Anyway it wont happen again.
