Baxi Boiler Problem

    Hi

I have a Baxi boiler system 35/80I. Basically the 30 and 40 degree light are flashing when I turn the system on and it just shuts down.

I've had two plumbers look at it and both said the PCb board needs replacing.

I've just had the PCb board replaced and the problem is still happening. The plumber/boiler service guy is stumped.

    Anyone any ideas

    Thanks

30&40 together are usually a PCB issue, but if a new PCB was fitted, it always comes with that fault that must be reset before using.

Hold the boiler onto reset for about 30-40 seconds then release, the fault should disappear and boiler commence.

If not, first thing for them to check is does the boiler have a permanent live, or did someone hook it into the switched live only (this will mean the board won't reset)

PM me if your still struggling and will give you my number for your service guy to have a chat with.

    Hi

DGOBS, thanks for the reply and sorry for the delay in getting back. I got a number of a guy from Baxi in Dublin. He's been out and reckons there isn't 240v reaching the ignitor. The PCb board is the original one as the guy I had out took the one he bought wiyh him when he gave up.. now I'm waiting to see if Iy is either PCb the ignitor switch or both

What's he done, has he not checked and fitted the part required, or gone to get one?

If 240v not going the the spark generator, and PCB has been satisfied with all other signals, it's a PCB error. I still think it's a PCB and the original guy just didn't know what he was doing.

The original guy was out of his depth. He replaced the PCb and was still getting the error. He didn't know what to do so left without charging me. I assumed he left the new PCb in.

The guy who Baxi recommended was unsure a new PCb was fitted as the date on the PCb read 2004. He is going to pick up a ignitor switch and PCb. Will only charge for whichever needs replacing.

Sounds like the first fella didn't know how to reset the pcb.Once a new pcb is fitted the 2 lights flash and it needs resetting.
The new fella should sort you

Well after 3 people looking at it 3 pcbs fitted reset, ignitor switch changed and in total 8 hours of being looked at ive been told i need to replace the boiler as no one not even Baxi can give a solution. Not what i needed to hear and no idea where to get 1200 euro for a new one

I rang airtricity and got quoted 2500 and that includes the grant from the SEAI

Let us know the outcome. I've only ever had one like that & that was a Ferroli which was easy to decide to replace due to the high cost of their parts.
It would be unusual not to find issue with a Baxi.

Forgot to mention if DGOBS can't solve it, nobody can so hopefully he is in your area.
