    Hi guys,

My son is over visiting from the Uk and has expressed interest in having a round of golf.

Can someone recommend a public course in Dublin that will be reasonably quiet during the week, and does club hire. We're not very good so wouldn't like to hold people up.

We're in Dublin 15 area but don't mind travelling.

Elm green is convinient to you and does club hire and would be quiet on certain days during the week

Not 100% if they all do club hire but Silloge Park, Elm Green and Deer Park would all be easy enough. Hollystown isn't a public course but probably worth checking that out too.

Deer Park in Howth would be very nice.
    There are 4 courses.
    2 are 9 hole course.
Or if total beginners a par 3 course.

Tell person in shop , they will send you on best course.
Being beginners is no issue - just let faster golfers through.
A weekday would be best, if weekend par 3 course is very good there.

The place is a nice place to visit anyway with great views, and Howth is a lovely place for lunch/dinner with great seafood too.
A good pint in clubhouse after.

Why limit yourself to public courses? most "private" clubs are fairly quite midweek and very happy to take green fees, unless an outing is on or its ladys day or similar.

Club rental will vary from place to place but mcguirks shops rent clubs too

Just let people play through if they catch up with you.

Plenty of courses round D15, Castleknock or Luttrelstown. Carton house not to far either. Have a look at teetimes.ie/golfnow.ie for deals
