Hi everyone. I wonder could anyone here help me Please

I have suffered from Depression for last 20 years and am on Meds etc

I last worked in June 2012. I was on Jobseekers All for about 7 months.
Then on Illness benefit suffering from Depression until now. I got
Letter stating my Illness Benefit was due to end at end of April.

I then applied for Invalidity Pension ( having talked to my GP ) I got him
To fill in their Form and sent it back to Longford. Two months later which
Is today I got letter staying " your case was examined by Medical Assesor
Who expressed opinion that you are not permanently incapable of work"

So they said I am not entitled to Invalidity Pension.

Today I went to my GP and he told me to write to Deciding Officer first(
He gave me a typed letter for them stating my details and medications etc)

I will be 65 in 10 days time.

Sorry for ling post but I am wondering what should I say in this letter
Or is there any point in even writing to them?

I live alone and am very upset and don't know where to turn to, as my
GP said I Am Not fit to work again.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Do as you doctor says and appeal the decision, I think the majority of first applications are rejected and then approved on appeal.
It is a lengthy process though.

If turned down a 2nd time then appeal to the Dublin office or you could appeal to both places now.

You could be eligible for the State Pension before you get a final decision on this, once awarded it will be back dated to when you first applied.

I have a close family member who applied got rejected and got it on appeal.

Also go to your local TD as well and explain your case as well and see if they can help. I know plenty that have had a rough time applying for stuff and it's amazing what a TD can do for you if they want to ensure a vote ;)

I hope this works and your health improves, best of luck.

Please accept my apology for not updating. I got word that I
Have got the Invalidity Pension and they backdated it from original
    Application date.

It was a big relief as you never know how these things work out.

I got back pain about same time and had to have MRI and had Nerve Root
Block injections two weeks ago, so my whole life was turned upside down,
    So again I apologise.
