Hi my son is turning 15 this month and is eager to get a part time job. By law he can only work around 8 hours per week so a Saturday job is what he needs. Does anyone know anwhere that might hire a lad his age, even on a casual basis.I have tried the local fruit n veg and pet shops but no luck.

Start by letting him do the job searching for himself if he wants one!

There are a few threads on this sort of stuff, with people advising many different places. He should be networking, asking his family and friend's parents. For his age and the current job market, odd jobs are probably his best bet. There are MANY people looking for unskilled part- time jobs, so I would think looking closer to home would be a better idea; cutting grass, washing cars, gardening, painting, etc.

    Try for:
    - petrol station attendant
    - pub floor staff
    - attendant at a local grocery shop like spar or centra or londis etc

I'm 18 and have been giving CVS out for years and have never got an interview.

Unless you can sort him out he's highly unlikely to find anything of his own accord.

Depends on where you are living really - a lot more opportunities/vacancies in a city

Floor staff in a pub/hotel/restaraunt is a good shout though

    Try a few farmers,if any nearby.Try garden centres,car valeters/wash.Local golf clubs etc.

Back in the day it was easy for kids in the countryside as you could go picking spuds.Less things available now and probably a bit tougher to get.
